Last night while I was doing dishes, I realized I had put too much soap on the sponge, and felt super wasteful while I rinsed it out, watching all the soap go down the drain. Sometimes, I find myself imagining how much money we would save if only we made our own laundry detergent, or we re-used plastic sandwich bags, or spending an entire day shopping at different stores to get the best possible price on each item, and then I realize I’m going to the crazy place, because, really, making our own laundry detergent?!
A few weeks ago I found this article on Yahoo! about shopping store brands vs. name brands, and I thought it made some great points. It wasn’t anything earth shatteringly new to me, but it did help remind me that we make smart money choices most of the time, so wasting a little bit of dish soap won’t kill us. It was a good head’s up to watch how much soap I use on the sponge at a time maybe.
