Early Christmas & Thanksgiving Roundup

Since I won’t be spending Christmas with my parents this year, they gave me one of my gifts early.

A new pair of Brooks Trance! Woo hoo! It was perfect timing, since I’ve logged a little over 230 miles, and my knees had started to bother me recently.  I thought it was maybe from dance, but now that I think of it, it’s probably because I needed new shoes. So excited to try them out.

Look how clean they are compared to my old pair!  When I put them on, I realized right away how needed they really were.  I could feel cushioning under the balls of my feet, where my old pair didn’t really have any left. So comfy! I will be sad to see them get all grimy and dirty like the old pair though. They’re so pretty when they’re new and clean. My parents also got me some running socks, which is awesome, and should help cut down on the random little blisters I’ve been getting on the side of my arches.

We drove home from San Francisco today, and let me tell ya, seven hours in the car is not fun. Ever.  Traffic moved, which was great, but still, seven hours is a long time.  We ended up driving through Carl’s Jr. for lunch and it was so gross. It only further confirmed that I can not do fast food anymore.  I felt so icky after eating it, that I had to sleep.

One thing that was really nice about the weekend, was that yesterday, aside from dinner with my parents at Outback, we did nothing.  It was glorious.  I slept in, watched TV all day, hung out with the dogs, and then ate delicious food. Sadly, most of the veggies I consumed in the past few days were all starches, and I was craving some greens.

Thankfully, tonight, we got some veggies in, by making our “veggie pasta.”

Even better, there’s leftovers so I have lunch tomorrow. Yay!

Squash, zucchini, tomatoes, pine nuts. Yummmmm.  What’s your favorite way to get your veggies in?

This morning, I ran 4 miles with my dad, the first mile we brought the dogs with us.  It was a bit rough, it’s a lot colder here than it’s been in Southern California, and my dad runs at a quicker pace than I do normally.  We took quite a few walking breaks which were nice, but by the time we were finished, I felt like I could have gone a few more miles with no problem.  My arches did start cramping up periodically during the run, but weren’t too terrible.  I think it’s definitely time for another pair of shoes though.  Thankfully, I’ve asked for them for Christmas.

Travis and I just got back from seeing Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1. I knew I’d like it, I love the books, and I while I was disappointed by a few of the changes, overall it made me even more excited for Part 2!  I definitely cried twice, and expect to cry, big time, in Part 2. Have you seen Harry Potter yet?

I will say however, the previews for Yogi Bear are bleak looking.  They make me sad.  Now we’re watching The Wizard of Oz on TV, and just lounging.

Last night’s dinner was really delicious, and I realized I never uploaded the pictures! I was in a pretty intense food coma most of yesterday evening.

I’m kind of looking forward to leftovers tonight! Will you be having leftovers for dinner?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends.  I hope you are all having a wonderful, restful and stress free holiday.  I am currently at my parents’ house in San Francisco, eating cheese and crackers and playing with the puppehs.  I am also looking forward to, and am grateful for the fact that my parents have a kick-ass washer/dryer here.  Which means not only will my clothes get actually clean, but they will get actually clean, for free.  Woo!

What Day is it?

I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. After spending the whole weekend in Sacramento, I kept thinking “I have all this time before we go to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving. Who needs to pack?”

I need to pack. Right now my packing is mostly dirty laundry that I will be washing at my parents’ house. The rest is simply a bunch of clean clothes thrown back into the suitcase I took to Sacramento.  We’re heading out right after work tomorrow, and I am not exactly looking forward to being on the road for hours.  I’m going to miss the kittehs something fierce.  Sadly, my puppehs live with my parents and since there’s a dog door, we can’t take the girls with us.  I’m hoping we won’t hit too much traffic, but I’m not holding my breath.

I’m off to bed, so I can get to work an hour early and leave an hour early.
